Beth Rimmer qualified from Liverpool in 1977 and has had a varied medical career - working in general medicine and pharmacology (MD on a novel anticonvulsant), as a Medical Prescribing Adviser and latterly as a GP in Harrogate. She enjoys walking (in 2018 wrote a guide to the Nidderdale Way as a retirement project), cycling, tennis, bridge and has recently learnt to sail.
Graduating from Nottingham University with a degree in Biochemistry. She became a Research Assistant at Leeds University. She obtained a PhD and went on to obtain a FRCPath and became the Head of Biochemistry in Harrogate and Director of Pathology for 3 years. She retired in 2010 and enjoys playing double bass, gardening reading and travelling.
David Jobling is a retired GP married to Jan. David practiced in Knaresborough for 35 years in a traditional style of practice. He served on the North Yorkshire Local Medical Committee representing colleagues for many years. President in 2003-4, he has been treasurer for a number of years, he is also the administrator of the Wilfrid Edgecombe Trust.
Liz is a nurse qualifying in 1982. She obtained a BSc and an MSc and a PG Cert Ed. Her experience includes Primary Care, Secondary Care and Commisssioning.
She set up a charity in Ripon with a friend and colleague in the 1990s to provide day care for people with physical disabilities. She works part time as a Management Consultant for her and her husbands company. Enjoys walking, wild swimming and travel. Liz agreed to take on the Hon Secretary role when sadly Margaret E Manning became ill.
Geraldine trained in Oxford and St Mary’s and then in Yorkshire in haematology. She was a consultant haematologist in Leeds then Harrogate until 2021. She has been a committee member for many years and was President during Covid - a tricky Zoom year. She is a keen cyclist and former morris dancer.
Retired GP having worked in Ripon and the surrounding villages for 30 years. I had the privilege of working in our cottage hospital during all of that time. In the 90s, I served on the board of Harrogate Health Authority.
Dr Sian Greenwood was a GP in Harrogate for 38 years, with special interests in Mental Health and Cancer. Sian was President of HMS in 2019/20 and is now a member of both the HMS and Edgecombe Committees.
David qualified from Victoria University of Manchester in 1982 with MB ChB.
He subsequently completed his General Surgical training in the North West obtaining his FRCS and ChM and was appointed as Consultant General Surgeon at Harrogate District Hospital from September 1995.
He was Honorary President of HMS from May 2018 for 1 year and has subsequently been a committee member and Trustee of the Wifred Edgecombe Trust Fund.
